Newsflash! This just in: Diablo III - Reaper of Souls

Blizzard started already the first official day of Gamescom to announce an expansion pack for Diablo 3. 
And the name of the expansion pack: Reaper of Souls

The next chapter of the game has been revealed. it is now time to go deeper into the story and "take on death itself" as their said it themselves.

The last thing that happened in the story of Diablo III: The nephalem defeated Diablo, the Prime Evil, and trapped the demon lord within the Black Soulstone.

The Angel of Death, Maltheal has waited in silence as the armies of Sanctuary crushed the remaining forces of the Burning Hells and scattered them.

It all will happen in Westmarch, a big open city (apparently)

LORE: "Malthael, the fallen Archangel of Wisdom, vanished after the events depicted at the end of Diablo II: Lord of Destruction®. In Reaper of Souls, he returns as the Angel of Death and seizes the Black Soulstone, which contains the essence of the Prime Evil. It now falls to the players to track down Malthael and stop him before he unleashes irreversible havoc on the world."

NEW PLAYABLE CLASS

A new playable class will arrive with the expansion pack: The Crusader, If you remember the paladin from Diablo II, you'll love this guy. The crusader is a holy knight, pretty close to the paladin from Diablo II. Described as "a war machine made human"

NEW LOOT SYSTEM

It's going to be a serious overhaul on the loot system, Blizzard is calling it Loot 2.0. The new system includes "smart drop," which makes it a bigger chance that the items dropped will be tailored to your current class. The massive amount of items dropped will be reduced too, keeping those useless items away from your face.

Not only that! but there will be a new artisan, the Mystic. This artisan will allow players to re-roll affixed stats on items, giving it a chance to create an overall better item.

There is also a new endgame option called "Loot runs," which places you in a randomized dungeons with random monsters. so the goal here is to slay as many monster and loot it as quickly as you can! The paragon system is getting a few changes too, there is no longer any Paragon level cap at all!

Shamely there is no Release date yet on this lovely expansion pack. hopefully we will get more info as the Gamescom goes on.
